How much does spiritual direction cost?

Do spiritual directors charge?

Spiritual directors are paid in different ways. Some are supported by a religious community, like a monastery or a retreat center, and offer direction free or by donation. Some have a full-time job and offer direction as a ministry on the side. And others, more and more, offer it as a main part of how they provide for their family. That is what I am doing.

What do I get for a session?

A session is an hour, at an interval that works for you. Group sessions are 90 minutes. We can meet online, or in person in Hull, Massachusetts.

I prepare for each session. Depending on what you need, I might prepare a beginning prompt or a prayer for you. Then I listen with you.

What if the fee is a barrier?

I offer a small number of sliding-scale places at a time, each for three to six months. If the fee is a barrier, tell me what you are able to do, and we will find a way to begin.

Is the first conversation really free?

Yes. It is 30 minutes, and there is no pressure to decide. We see whether we are a good fit. If I am not the right fit, I will tell you.

Is it covered by insurance?

Spiritual direction is not therapy, and I am not a mental health practitioner, so I do not bill insurance.

How do I pay?

We begin with the free conversation. If we decide to work together, I will send you a way to pay. You can pay by Venmo or Zelle.

What if I need to change a session?

If you need to change a session, please let me know at least 48 hours before.
